After the successful Ready Player One, the Oscar-winning director, Steven Spielberg is set to reunite with Warner Bros. to produce and plausibly direct the action-adventure film Blackhawk, based on the 1941 comic of the same name.

Blackhawk revolves around a team of World War II fighter pilots helmed by a mysterious Blackhawk and battle fantastical threats. The screenplay is being written by David Koepp, Spielberg’s staple collaborator.

This is not his first comic book excursion. In 2011 he made The Adventures of Tintin. The project will mark Spielberg’s first ‘DC Comics characters’ feature.

This series was published originally by Quality Comics before DC acquired the property in 1956.

The other projects Spielberg is set to tackle are Indiana Jones 5 and a remake of West Side Story.
