The rumours have been going around for a while now. But the cat is finally out of the bag. Joaquin Pheonix has been confirmed to play Joker in a standalone origin movie that will be directed by Todd Phillips. Martin Scorsese is on board as the executive producer for the reportedly $55 million film.

The move came after Walter Hamada replaced Geoff Johns as the new president of DC Films. Be it as it may, we are excited to know what Phoenix would make of the Joker.
