When everyone is going misty-eyed thanking their mothers on a particular day, actor-writer Navjot Gulati’s new short film Jai Mata Di is nothing short of kick-ass. Starring Supriya and Shriya Pilgaonkar, Shiv, and Manu Rishi, the delightful Jai Mata Di turns the hype around Mother’s Day on its head.

The story revolves around Anu (Shriya Pilgaonkar) and Suraj (Shiv), who are looking for a house as a live-in couple in Mumbai. And everyone knows the response that gets! The society won’t allow it. But thanks to their broker (Manu Rishi) and the proverbial Mumbai ka jugaad, the girl’s mother walks in to convince the society chairman that the two are actually siblings.

What happens next? Watch the film here:

Each and every member of the cast is superlative and the super smart writing (note the play with the charkha towards the end) makes you LOL throughout, not to mention the delightful twist in the end.

The best Mother’s Day tribute we have come across yet for sure!
