Hotel Mumbai, a film based on the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks that engulfed the city in 2008, is going to be released on 29 March 2019. The poster of the film was also revealed on Thursday by film critic Taran Adarsh in a tweet.

Directed by Anthony Maras, the film is based on the events of 26 November, 2008, when terrorists laid siege to the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai in addition to several other locations, including Chhatrapathi Shivaji Terminus (CST), the Oberoi Trident Hotel, Leopold Cafe, Cama Hospital and Nariman House.

Earlier, Anupam Kher shared the trailer of the film on Twitter.

Here’s the teaser that was unveiled earlier.

The film focuses on a fictionalised version of the events that took place at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel where guests and staff were held hostage for nearly three days. “Madame, this is the Taj Hotel. You’re very safe here,” reassures an unassuming Dev Patel, who plays a waiter at the hotel, when a guest brings up the news of a shootout at CST. Shortly after, terrorists descend on the Taj. Panic ensues as guests and the staff try to plot their escape.

The film also stars Anupam Kher, whose character is reportedly based on Taj chef Hemant Oberoi, Armie Hammer and Jason Isaacs.

Hotel Mumbai premiered to positive reviews at the Toronto International Film Festival in September and is expected to release in March 2019.
