The congregation of Hollywood’s wittiest and glitziest celebrities at Los Angeles for the first awards ceremony of the season makes for a number of fun things - red carpet shenanigans, sassy repartees, rousing speeches, awkward moments, big wins and disappointing snubs. Blend these in the cauldron of social media and you have a lip-smacking meme platter. Without further ado, here’s what Christian Bale was up to at the awards night.

After he scored his second Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy category for his portrayal of Dick Cheney in Vice, he made a cheeky acceptance speech that took a dig at the former Vice President of the US in his British accent.

“Thank you to Satan for giving me inspiration for playing this role,” he said referring to his political satire. The Church of Satan was quick to notice.

What’s more, he referred to his children as "Banana" and "Burrito."

A tweet/meme storm had to ensue.
