Avengers: Endgame is finally here. Marvel fans have waited for a decade now and the anticipation is on its peak as the film releases today in India. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has some of the most loved range of films. All the films either have a mid-credit or a post end-credit sequence, or both which is a trademark for Marvel and is always awaited by the fans. But things this time will be different.

So for everyone used to looking forward to the post end-credit scene, prepare yourself for disappointment as there won’t be one.

The post end-credit scenes in Marvel films are normally meant to foreshadow some details about the next film. It has always left audiences waiting and wanting for more, keeping them hooked till the next film comes.

The tradition first began in 2008 with Iron Man, when Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is told that he isn’t the only superhero out there: “Mr. Stark, you’ve become part of bigger universe. You just don’t know it yet.” And that itself birthed the fascinating world of MCU.

However this time, Avengers: Endgame is the concluding film. So what use does a post end-credit scene have anyway?

This may be the longest Marvel film at 3 hours and 58 seconds, but that still doesn’t suffice for a crazy Marvel fan, does it? But fret not, a Marvel fan can still expect a little surprise at the end.

This time around, Marvel leaves us with an audio stringer post the end credits, while the Marvel logo appears on the screen. The audio has been described to be “clanking” , which could be a metal noise, and fans on Reddit have their own theories about it.

The most interesting and convincing possibility was raised by Reddit User OxideCyanide, who said “Even though we didn’t see anything, we heard the sound of a ‘blacksmith’ hammering something metal. Those who are unfamiliar with the sound, that ‘blacksmith’ was Tony Stark making the very first Iron Man suit. The one that started it all.” wrote the user.

While it may be a bittersweet feeling for any Marvel fan to not be able to experience one of the most exciting aspects of Marvel films - something is better than nothing, right?
