After a Rs 1000-crore Mahabharata on the celluloid, the other great Indian epic, Ramayana, is all set to come to the big screen. Three filmmakers have come together to create the live-action feature film with a budget of Rs 500 crore.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Allu Aravind, Namit Malhotra and Madhu Mantena are set to produce the film. It would be a tri-lingual film released in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. The film will also be shot in 3D.

The project that is slated to be a series in three parts, has reportedly been worked upon for a year now.

It’s a huge responsibility but the Ramayana needs to be told on the big screen in the most magnificent way possible. We are committed to delivering a spectacular extravaganza.
Allu Aravind, Producer

Whilst Allu expressed the need to recreate the epic on the big screen following its television versions, Namit’s vision is to raise the bar for visual effects in the industry. Having handled blockbusters like Star Wars and X-Men: Apocalypse under his company, Prime Focus, Namit said:

There cannot be a better time and opportunity to tell the greatest Indian story to the world in a way that preserves its respect and vision. The partnership with Allu sir and Madhu has aligned me with the best partners who share the same vision and passion to make this a cinematic experience all Indians can be proud of.

It would be an interesting watch for sure!
