Members of the film fraternity are mourning the loss of Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn’s father, veteran action director Veeru Devgan, who passed away in Mumbai on 27 May at the age of 85.

Celebs such as Aamir Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Anupam Kher, Vivek Oberoi and Abbas Mustan took to Twitter to share their condolences. Here’s what they had to say:

Vicky Kaushal’s father Sham Kaushal shared his personal experience with the late Veeru Devgan.

Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit wrote about Veeru Devgan’s ability to choreograph fights on the big screen, even when there were no facilities available.

Veeru Devgan had been suffering from a prolonged illness and had been admitted at Surya Hospital in Santacruz at the time of his death. The famous Bollywood veteran was last seen attending the preview screening of Ajay Devgn’s film Total Dhamaal, which also starred Madhuri Dixit, Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi and Riteish Deshmukh.

Veeru Devgan boasts of an extensive filmography. He has been the talent behind action sequences in several Bollywood films like Tridev, Mr Natwarlal, Himmatwala, Inkaar, Phool Aur Kaante etc. In 1999, he also directed a film Hindustan Ki Kasam which starred Ajay Devgn, alongside Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachchan, Manisha Koirala and Sushmita Sen.
