Tahira Kashyap took to Instagram to apologise to fans who have criticised her for posting a picture of herself sitting in the lap of a Buddha statue. The filmmaker posted a statement saying that she was sorry for “unintentionally agonising few people”.

“I apologise if I have offended anybody, but I myself am a Nicherin’s Buddhism practitioner and I felt embraced in the lap of Buddha. Every religion, every philosophy is about love. In no way did I mean to disrespect (anyone). Sorry if I have hurt anyone. From my perspective there is only love,” she explained.

Tahira later deleted the post reiterating that she meant no offence by it. “I absolutely never want to be a source of hurt and pain for anyone. Sorry for unintentionally agonising few people, wish love and peace for everyone,” she wrote.

Tahira Kashyap has been a source of inspiration ever since she opened up about her cancer diagnosis last September. She has chronicled her battle with the disease on social media. In November 2018, she returned to work after going through preventive mastectomy. She is currently working on a slice-of-life film about five women from Mumbai, which will be produced by Tanuj Garg and Atul Kasbekar.
