Anand Kumar, founder of the Bihar based facility Super 30, has opened up on the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) protests and said that the issue should be resolved in a peaceful manner.

JNU students have been protesting for about three weeks now, against the proposed hostel fee hike and other things in the draft hostel manual. Anand Kumar said in an interview that the hiked fee should only be applicable to those students who can afford paying it.

“Those who are rich should pay the hiked fees. But scholarships and other forms of assistance should be given to the ones who are talented but can’t pay the same.”

Kumar said that a solution should be reached on amicably, after the authorities and the government sit together. “The government must rethink the hike in fees so that the needy are not deprived,” he said.

Under the Super 30 programme, Anand Kumar teaches under-privileged children to crack the IIT entrance exams. In September, the mathematician was felicitated in the US with The Education Excellence Award 2019 in recognition of his contributions towards imparting education to the needy students.

Earlier in July, Hrithik Roshan starred in Super 30, based on Kumar’s life. Bollywood celebs such as Karan Johar, Sonali Bendre, Dia Mirza and Kriti Sanon called the film inspiring and were all praises for Hrithik’s performances in the film.
