Veteran actor Sumita Sanyal died on Sunday, June 9, reports news agency ANI. She was 71. She was a well-known name in both the Bengali and Hindi film industries. In Bollywood, she is best remembered for her roles in the Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna-starrer Anand and Mere Apne with Vinod Khanna.
Sanyal was married to editor Subodh Roy and is survived by a son.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee condoled her death.
