The countdown to Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja’s wedding has officially begun! The couple is all set to tie the knot on 8 May, as confirmed by a statement from the Kapoor and Ahuja families.
Sonam’s mehendi bash began at Anil Kapoor’s residence in Bandra on Sunday night. Get the party started, already! Stay tuned to see what transpires.

Who’s the Lucky Fashion Designer?
While the dress code for the mehendi is festive Indian clothes in white, the wedding itself will be strictly Indian traditional. The wedding bash itself will demand Indian and Western formals.
Knowing how fashion conscious Sonam is, we are dying to know what she will wear on her special day. Our bet? The wedding attire will be an Anamika Khanna creation. Sonam, in an interview to Brides Today, said as much, insisting she likes "traditional Indian clothes that don't go out of style”.
But we have confirmation on who’s designing the clothes for the bridegroom and his family – it’s none other than Raghavendra Rathore! According to a IANS, the Kapoors and Ahujas have reached out to Raghavendra, the Classic Men's Bespoke brand, to suit them for the upcoming wedding next week, and the designer agreed. Incidentally, actor Anil Kapoor is a fan of the designer's collection and walked the ramp for him in November 2017.
The Wedding Card

While the mehendi is scheduled for 7 May at the Sunteck Signature Island, BKC, the wedding will take place the day after at Sonam’s aunt’s bungalow in Rockdale, Bandra. The reception party will be held the same evening at The Leela, Mumbai.
The Guest List
“I think I’ll have a wedding with only my family and close friends in attendance. I would also prefer to get married in India, because it’s my favourite place in the world,” Sonam had said in the interview to Brides Today. Well, she’s getting married not only in India, but in her hometown Mumbai!
While most of Bollywood can be safely expected to attend the reception on the evening of 8 May, who would be the special guests, the “close friends”? Here’s a hint from the lady herself.
To Sridevi, With Love
It came as a huge shock to the Kapoor family when Sridevi suddenly passed away a couple of months ago in Dubai. The family, however, rallied around her daughters Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor. If the rumour mills are to be believed, Janhvi, who’s gearing up for her Bollywood debut with Dhadak, is going to perform a medley of Sridevi’s songs at Sonam’s mehendi function.
But that’s not all. Anil and Sunita Kapoor are reportedly putting up a special act for daughter dearest. According to Times of India, Anil Kapoor would reportedly be shaking a leg to ‘Gallan Goodiyan’ and ‘My Name Is Lakhan’ with his friends Satish Kaushik and Anupam Kher.
And Sonam’s cousins would be rocking to her hit songs like Tareefan, Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai, the Prem Ratan Dhan Payo title track, and Dheere Dheere from her music video with Hrithik Roshan, among others, according to Mumbai Mirror. The choreographer is none other than Farah Khan.

Meanwhile, Sunita Kapoor has been overseeing the decoration of daughter Sonam’s house in Juhu. The property has been beautifully lit up for the special occasion.
Word has it that this could be Sonam’s ‘Mehendi’ outfit.
