Tamil language actor Siddharth took to Twitter on Thursday 23 May, the day the results for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections are counted, to claim that he will delete his account if current prime minister Narendra Modi did not come to power for a second term. He even used the popular hashtag ‘AayegaToModiHi’ in his tweet. The statement comes across as odd considering the actors’s past views.

Siddharth wrote in his post, “I hereby solemnly swear that if @narendramodiji does not get a second term, I will delete my Twitter account permanently. Jai Hind. #AayegaToModiHi” Take a look at the post below.

The tweet is surprising considering the fact that Siddharth has been a vocal critic of Prime Minister Modi and his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the past. Most recently, he had slammed the Narendra Modi government for ‘politicising’ the Pulwama terror attack. He also poked fun at a “non-political” interview PM Modi gave to Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar.

In Bollywood, Siddharth is most famously known for his role in Rakysh Omprakash Mehra’s 2006 hit Rang De Basanti which also starred Aamit Khan among others. He was seen on screen in the 2018 Malayalam film Kammara Sambhavam.
