In a recent interview with Filmfare, actor Shahid Kapoor spoke about how he changed post fatherhood and how his two kids Zain and Misha have impacted him. He said that was quite ‘self-oriented’ before having kids, and that you tend to always put yourself first.

He said, “Now I don’t put myself first. You end up thinking about your kids and family first. Sometimes it’s nice. Sometimes it’s frustrating because you do need to put yourself first at times. Every individual needs to have their own breathing space. I struggle with it. I respect my parents a lot more today than I did before I was a parent.”

He added that now more than ever he understands what his parents did for him and has a greater amount of respect for them. He also mentioned that through he wanted to say ‘sorry’ to his parents for all the times that he probably misunderstood them. “Mom, Dad I’m sorry for all the times that I was a prick,” he said.

Shahid married Mira Rajput through an arranged marriage setup and now have two kids Misha and Zain.

Shahid’s been on a career high, post the massive success of Kabir Singh, which despite criticism has become of Bollywood’s biggest hits. Defending the film Shahid had said, “That’s so hypocritical, when you see people in Hollywood do these things, “wow, wow, wow! so brave!”, somebody does it out here, “how dare you!” yeh kya hai? Have the same standard no?”
