Sanjay Kapoor Welcomes Daughter Shanaya Into Bollywood

On Sunday, actor Sanjay Kapoor welcomed his daughter Shanaya Kapoor into the film industry with a photo of her from the sets of an upcoming film. Shanaya is currently working with the crew of Gunjan Saxena biopic in Lucknow. In the photo shared by Sanjay, Shanaya can be seen with her face wrapped in a pink cloth due to protect herself from the heat.

“My Hard working daughter shooting in 41 degrees as an assistant director 😂😂 , warm welcome to the film industry 👻 #day20”, wrote Sanjay on Instagram.

Shanaya Kapoor is currently in Lucknow filming for the biopic of Gunjan Saxena who was the first Indian woman to be an Air Force combat pilot. She was also the first female recipient of the Shaurya Chakra award. Gunjan played an integral role in the Kargil war.

A few weeks ago, Shanaya’s mother Maheep Kapoor too had shared a photo of Sanjay and his daughter with the caption - “My baby’s gone to Lucknow for 2 weeks 🙁#MissYouAlready#AssistantDirectorsLife #LoveYou ❤️” In the post she also mentioned that Shanaya will be the Assistant Director on the film.

Earlier, Sanjay Kapoor in an interview with Hindustan Times had revealed the news of Shanaya venturing into Bollywood. Here’s what he said:

“It’s true that Shanaya is now in Lucknow and working as an assistant on Janhvi’s film. It was a joint decision. She was very keen on doing something different to understand the space, rather than just wasting time. Before she wanted to take up a film, she didn’t want to be abroad for a three-year course. Instead, she chose something personal like this. Obviously, I’m always there to guide her. Nothing in life is better than experience”

The Gunjan Saxena biopic stars Jahnvi Kapoor in the lead role. Actor Angad Bedi plays Jahnvi’s onscreen brother Anshuman in the film.
