Pics: Ranveer Singh Meets Kapil Dev in Preparation for ‘83’
Ranveer is going to play the legendary cricketer in the upcoming sports biopic.
Gully Boy star Ranveer Singh on Saturday 25 May shared photos on his Instagram account where he is seen meeting and chatting with veteran cricketer Kapil Dev. Ranveer is all set to play Kapil in the upcoming sports biopic 83.
Ranveer posted three sets of pictures of them laughing it up, deep in conversation and captioned them, “Becoming the Hurricane 🌪 #KapilDev @83thefilm@kabirkhankk”
Kapil looks happy with the casting choice of Ranveer and eager to lend all his knowledge while Ranveer is attentive and pleased to meet the legend. He’s even taking notes! The two men seem to share a laid-back rapport as they sip tea in the comfot of what appears to be Kapil’s home.

83 follows how, under newly-appointed captain Kapil Dev, the Indian cricket team defeated West Indies in the final and won the country’s first World Cup in 1983. It tracks the coming-of-age of not just a cricketing team but of a young nation in the eyes of the world.
The film also stars R Badree, Hardy Sandhu, Chirag Patil, Saqib Saleem, Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Bhasin, Ammy Virk and Saahil Khattar as the Indian team. Ranveer and the rest of the cast have been undergoing a gruelling training process in preparation for their roles. They have even trained under former cricketer Mohinder Amarnath Bhardwaj and taken tips on the field from Kapil himself.
83 is directed by Kabir Khan and is set to release on 10 April, 2020.
