In the wake of ongoing developments in Kashmir, Pakistani actor Mahira Khan on Monday took to Twitter to show solidarity towards everyone affected by the situation.

She wrote, “Have we conveniently blocked what we don’t want to address? This is beyond lines drawn on sand, it’s about innocent lives being lost! Heaven is burning and we silently weep. #Istandwithkashmir #kashmirbleeds”

Mahira Khan’s tweet is a reaction to the escalating tensions in Kashmir as troops are being deployed and former CMs of Jammu & Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah, are being reportedly put under house arrest. The government has also imposed Section 144. Internet services have also been suspended.

On Monday, actor Anupam Kher also took to Twitter to share his reaction to the Kashmir situation. He tweeted, “Kashmir Solution has begun.” However, his tweet did not go well with journalists on Twitter.

Journalist Swati Chaturvedi questioned Kher’s tweet by asking him whether he wanted a genocide in Kashmir, to which the actor replied by stating that “Genocide to 1990 mei hua tha”, accusing Chaturvedi of having a memory loss about the widespread violence against and exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley in 1990.

He wrote, “Genocide to 1990 mei hua tha @bainjal ji. Kashmiri pandito ka. Jiske baare mei aap sabka convenient memory loss ho chuka hai. Ab to sudhaar hone ki sambhavna hai.”

When Chaturvedi countered Kher by telling him that she had reported about Kashmiri Pandits and the horror they face, the actor responded by telling her, “Bahut bahut meherabani.”
