Radhika Apte was praised for her performance in Shriram Raghavan’s Andhadhun last year. Now, she has revealed in a chat show that she lost out on Vicky Donor for being “overweight by a few kilos”.

Radhika said she was shortlisted to play the role of Yami Gautam for Vicky Donor. “I had gone on a holiday for a month, so I drank a lot of beer and had loads of food. I told the makers that I would come back and lose them. But they did not want to take any chances”, the actor said.

Speaking in the makers’ defence, Ayushmann Khurrana had pointed out that because he was skinny back then, it prompted this decision to replace Radhika with Yami. However, Radhika said that despite not being affected by rejection at work, the weight thing messed with her head.

Filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane had once said last year that actor Radhika Apte is the “Rajkummar Rao” of this year, given the number and variety of her projects. The years 2017 and 2018 have been busy for Rajkummar, whose films Omerta, Fanney Khan, Stree and Love Sonia released.

Radhika also had her hands full. In 2018, she featured in movies and series like Pad Man, Lust Stories, Sacred Games and Ghoul. She has more projects in her kitty.
