The Indian Film & Television Directors' Association has suspended filmmaker Sajid Khan for one year over sexual harassment complaints against him. The move came months after several women accused him of sexual harassment in the wake of the #metoo movement, news agency ANI has reported.

Sajid was accused of sexual harassment by at least four women, following which he stepped down as the director of Housefull 4.

The filmmaker appeared before the ICC, led by advocates Mrunalini Deshmukh and Vibhav Krishna, filmmakers Shrabani Deodhar and Bhavna Talwar, Ashoke Pandit (President, IFTDA), Ashok Dubey (Head of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees) and Nandini Sarkar (from the NGO C-Quel) on November 1.

But Khan did not give any explanation or respond to the allegations. He did not accept that he had sexually molested the complainants, but admitted that his behaviour and language was impolite. According to him, his sexual liasons had been with the consent of his partners.

Khan’s suspension, effective with immediate effect, would be reviewed after a year. A copy of the letter was sent to him last evening (11 December).
