According to reports, singer Demi Lovato was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital after suffering a drug overdose.

A report in TMZ says that Demi was transported by ambulance from a home in the Hollywood Hills just before noon Tuesday. Lovato’s spokesperson told the BBC that “Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support. Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy."

The 25-year-old pop singer has been dealing with substance abuse and has been open about it. In 2010 Lovato withdrew from a concert tour with the Jonas Brothers and entered a rehabilitation facility. She was also struggling with alcoholism and an eating disorder.

Lovato had released a new single titled Sober just a month ago. The lyrics in the song include:

“I’m sorry for the fans I lost who watched me fall again,”

“I wanna be a role model but I’m only human.”

And it ends with the lines:

"I'm sorry that I'm here again, I promise I'll get help/It wasn't my intention, I'm sorry to myself."

Support for the singer poured in from friends via Twitter:

Demi Lovato was currently on tour and she was due to complete the North American leg of her Tell Me You Love Me world tour with a concert in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Thursday.
