Mumbai’s Esplanade Court on Monday, 22 July, granted bail to Ajaz Khan on the surety of Rs 1 lakh, reports ANI. The actor, who is best known for being a contestant on the seventh season of reality television show Bigg Boss, was arrested by the Mumbai Police on 18 July for uploading a TikTok video with objectionable content and remanded in police custody till 20 July.

According to a report by The Hindu, a Shiv Sena worker had submitted a written complaint regarding two videos that Khan had uploaded on 9 July. In the first, Ajaz Khan was allegedly seen talking about the lynching of Tabrez Ansari from Jharkhand and insulting certain political leaders. In the other, he was allegedly seen mocking the police for registering an FIR against five Tik Tok users who made a similar video.

The actor was charged with promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion under Section 34 of the IPC and Section 67 of the IT Act. The cyber crime branch of the Mumbai police are conducting further investigation into the matter. Khan was also arrested last year by the Anti-Narcotics Cell from a hotel for possession of drugs and was later granted bail for the same.
