I’m Not a Baby-Making Machine: An Angry Vidya Balan Lashes out

Vidya Balan is fed up of rumours about her being pregnant sparked by her visit to her doctor’s clinic.

Being a film star comes with it’s own perils and the biggest is the loss of one’s personal space. After being touched inappropriately by an unruly fan at Kolkata airport, another controversy is violating her private life. Vidya was recently spotted visiting a doctor. That was enough for tabloids to spread the rumour about a possible pregnancy. Adding fuel to the fire is her recent weight gain, possibly for her role in her next outing Begum Jaan. But Vidya had a befitting response waiting:

It was annoying. I could be going to a clinic for an acne too! Why is it that every time a woman, post marriage, visits a doctor, there are whispers of her pregnancy?

In an exclusive interview to Mid-day, she went on to comment that this speculation was a gross invasion of her privacy, and that she’s not a baby-making machine.

What is this baby obsession? I am not a baby-making machine. Anyway, the world population is on a rise. If some people don’t have children, it’s fine.
