Arjun Reddy actor Vijay Deverakonda recently moved into a new home. The Telugu actor took to social media to share a photo from the housewarming ceremony of him and his brother seated on either side of their parents. They’re dressed in traditional outfits with the men in dhotis and Vijay’s mother in a cream sari and turquoise blouse. “I bought a house so big. It scares me. Now need mum to make us all feel safe. Make it home,” he wrote on Facebook.

In a note on Instagram, he wrote, “Her happiness, His pride, Our new home! Sending you all lots of love from the 4 Deverakondas - you've all been a part of this journey with us.”

One of Vijay Devarakonda’s most memorable roles is that of the titular character in Sandeep Vanga’s Arjun Reddy. While he has a huge fan following, the actor has also been criticised by portraying a character that glorifies toxic masculinity.

In a roundtable discussion on Anupama Chopra’s recent chat show, Malayalam actor Parvathy Thiruvothu expressed her views on the subject saying that Arjun Reddy and its Hindi remake Kabir Singh “had the visual grammar of glorification”. “We can watch a tragedy and leave it there, without feeling inspired to follow it. Whereas if you’re telling there is no passion in a relationship without slapping each other and I see the comments on YouTube where people are resonating and engaging with that, there is also, you can see, engaging with that in a massive, mob-like manner. Where you’re inciting violence, that’s kind of murky,” she said. Twitter users praised the actor for speaking out about the films despite Vijay Deverakonda being part of the show.
