Anurag Kashyap is all praises for military drama Uri: The Surgical Strike, which released on 11 January. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film is based on the retaliatory surgical strikes carried out by the Indian army in POK in 2016.

In a series of tweets, the director lauded the way the film was executed.

“I quite liked Uri for the way it was executed . I went in thinking it will be a propaganda film and it just sticks true to what happened with similar creative liberties most film makers take in telling a story,” he said.

“I prefer anti war movies any day. But I can’t deny the technical flourishes that Uri makes which makes it very believable. Well done team Uri and congratulations,” he added.

Despite its controversial subject, Kashyap said that Uri “is not a propaganda film”.

He compared it to other foreign titles of the same genre.

Kashyap also congratulated Vicky Kaushal on his performance.

Uri has been directed by Aditya Dhar and stars Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam, Paresh Rawal and Mohit Raina.
