Just recently actors Vidya Balan and Rahul Bose had made child sexual abuse a talking point. Now Akshay Kumar has lent his voice to the issue by sharing his own brush with it and the subsequent trauma.

The Toilet: Ek Prem Katha star spoke about it at a seminar on women’s safety, which he attended with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday. He recounted how as a boy of six, he was touched inappropriately by a lift man.

Akshay Kumar shared how when he was on his way to a neighbour’s house, “the lift man touched my butt”. He was “really agitated” and luckily had the good sense of telling his father, Hari Om Bhatia, about it. A police investigation revealed that the guy was “a history-sheeter”.

According to a report by Mumbai Mirror, the actor confessed that he was a very shy child and the incident traumatised him to the extent that even to this day he finds it "difficult to say the word ‘bum’”.
