Akshay Kumar, who turned 51 on 9 September, says age is just a number for him. Speaking to The Hindustan Times on his birthday, the actor said that he’s planning to spend a quiet day at home with his family and that he’s touched by how his fan clubs celebrate his birthday by working towards a cause.

“I actually don’t take this stress of the number in my head about turning 50, 51, 55, 60, or whatever,” says Akshay. He even gave the example of doing a stunt for a film he was shooting recently. “I was giving a shot for Housefull 4 and the jump wasn’t required, but I still did it. I forget that I’m 51 now and I should keep away from it... I’m still thinking that I am in my Khiladi times and just doing action,” admitted Akshay candidly.

Akshay along with wife Twinkle Khanna was spotted with good friend Bobby Deol and his wife on his birthday eve spending a night out at a restaurant. Twinkle posted a picture of their dinner together on social media with the message: “Sometimes when you don’t plan things - it all falls in place - Happy Birthday to my lovely Mr K !”

So how is Akshay planning to spend his 51st birthday? He plans to have a quiet time at home with his wife, daughter, mother-in-law and mom. “We are just going to sit and maybe have a drink,” Akshay said, revealing the plans for his big day. On an emotional note he actor also admitted that he would be missing his son who is away studying in London.

When asked about his fan clubs which organise blood donation camps or free food distribution for the needy on his birthday, Akshay expressed his shock and surprise over their philanthropic activities. “I’m shocked myself that they do it every year, and they do it on their own. It’s not that anybody tells them; they believe in these things. I’m so happy and so grateful to them for doing such good things,” said Akshay.
