Varun, Sara’s ‘Coolie No 1’ Remake to Go on Floors in August
Filmmakers have confirmed the casting of Sara Ali Khan opposite Varun Dhawan.
After bagging her first Filmfare award, Kedarnath actor Sara Ali Khan is all set to star in an official adaptation of the 1995 Govinda-starrer Coolie No 1, the makers announced on Wednesday. Sara will be seen opposite Kalank actor Varun Dhawan.
The film will be directed by Varun’s father David Dhawan, who also helmed the original film starring both Govinda and Karisma Kapoor in the lead. The new Coolie No 1 will be produced by Vashu Bhagnani and will go on floors in August 2019.

After Judwaa 2, this film marks the father-son duo, David and Varun’s second collaboration.
Actor Jackky also tweeted about the film, “Nostalgic & Excited !! We complete 25 years at @poojafilms. Extremely Happy to announce the adaptation of our first film #CoolieNo1 with my favorite David uncle, my brother @Varun_dvn & #SaraAliKhan! Cannot wait for this mad journey to begin!!”
Varun Dhawan was last seen in the period drama Kalank opposite Alia Bhatt. Sara Ali Khan recently shared the screen with Ranveer Singh in Simmba and will be seen opposite Kartik Aaryan in a sequel of Love Aaj Kal directed by Imtiaz Ali.
