After the critical and commercial success of last year’s Mulk, director Anubhav Sinha and star Taapsee Pannu will be joining hands again for a new social drama based on true events, titled Thappad. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Thappad will go on the floors in August and shoot in Delhi.

A source told the paper that Anubhav and Taapsee had decided to collaborate again while shooting Mulk and the new film is a “brave” project with Taapsee playing the role of a middle-class girl.

It’s a female oriented subject that defies narratives typecasting women. It questions the society and will deliver a poignant message on world domination by women.

Anubhav Sinha has just wrapped up the cop drama Article 15 with Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead role. He is aiming for a International Women’s Day 2020 release for Thappad. Meanwhile, Taapsee is shooting with Bhumi Pednekar for the Anurag Kashyap-produced sports biopic Saand Ki Aankh.
