Sonali Bendre has been diagnosed with cancer, the actor tweeted a statement regarding her condition to her fans and followers on social media. Excerpts from Bendre’s statement read:

• “I have recently been diagnosed with a high-grade cancer that has metastised, which we frankly did not see coming”.
• “A niggling pain led to some tests, which led to this unexpected diagnosis”.
• “My family and friends have rallied around me, providing the best support system that anyone can ask for”.
• “And so, as advised by my doctors, I am currently undergoing a course of treatment in New York”.
• “I’m taking this battle head on, knowing I have the strength of my family and friends behind me”.

Friends from the film industry have been sending Sonali their prayers and wishes on hearing the news.

Sonali Bendre who has been a part of films like Hum Saath Saath Hain and Sarfarosh was currently a celebrity judge on the reality TV show - India’s Best Dramebaaz.
