The title of ‘Mr Money Bags’ of Bollywood would right now go to Salman Khan as he tops the list of advance tax payers from the film industry for the financial year 2016-17. Khan has reportedly paid an advance tax of Rs 44.5 crore, a jump from last year when he shelled out Rs 32 crore. The new names on the list of top ten celeb advance tax payers include Kapil Sharma, Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar.

Advance tax is paid by individuals if the tax liability on estimated income is likely to exceed Rs 10,000 during the financial year. This tax liability is calculated after considering tax deducted at source (TDS).
