Ranbir, Vaani’s ‘Shamshera’ to Go on Floors Tomorrow

The action-adventure flick also stars Sanjay Dutt.

Yash Raj Films’ next big adventure flick Shamshera, stars Ranbir Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt will kick off its shoot tomorrow in Mumbai.

A puja in the tradition of Yash Chopra was held for Shamshera and attended by Ranbir, Vaani, who stars opposite him and director Karan Malhotra. Sanjay Dutt was out of town and would be joining the shoot later.

Shamshera sees Ranbir return to the YRF fold 9 years after Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year. The action-adventure film is the first time he will be starring with Vaani and Sanjay. Karan had earlier directed Agneepath & Brothers for Dharma Productions.

A first look was released earlier this year.

Earlier Ranbir had shared in a statement why he wanted to do the film.

<em>‘Shamshera’</em><em> </em>is exactly the film I was looking for. While growing up watching Hindi commercial cinema, I had an image of what a film hero should be doing. ‘<em>Shamshera’</em><em> </em>allows me to do everything that I had imagined and it’s a very exciting project for me.

Shamshera will see Ranbir in a never-seen-before avatar of a heartland dacoit. The film has a release date set for 31 July 2020.
