Ranbir Kapoor is quite busy with the ambitious project Brahmastra, also starring Alia Bhatt. But he has other projects in his kitty too, the gangster drama Shamshera being one of them. According to a report in Mid-day, the actor will be playing a double role in the Karan Malhotra-directed venture. The film also features Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor in the lead.

Yash Raj Films had revealed Ranbir’s look in the film last year.

“The film narrates the story of a dacoit tribe that is fighting for its rights and independence from the British rule. Apart from essaying the role of the protagonist, Ranbir might also be seen playing the central character’s father. He has been shooting for both the roles simultaneously, and this is the first time in his career that he will be playing a double role,” a source told Mid-day.

The film is slated to release in July 2020, and it marks Ranbir’s return to Yash Raj Films after Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year in 2009.
