Actor Rajkummar Rao's father Satyapal Yadav passed away in Gurugram on Thursday, 5 September, reports ANI. The 60-year-old had been admitted at Medanta hospital for the past 17 days and was cremated on Friday, 6 September, at Madan Puri in the presence of family and close friends.

Rajkummar's father was an employee of the Indian government's revenue department. The Judgementall Hai Kya actor had earlier opened up about the hardships his family faced when he was growing up telling The Indian Express that his teachers paid his school fees for two years.

Rajkummar's mother passed away from a heart attack in 2016 while the actor was filming Newton. He penned a note on Facebook in her honour writing, "Thank you for teaching me everything in life and for always supporting me in everything. I could have been nothing without you and your blessings. I am a proud son. I love you immensely and I’ll meet you again on the other side Maa." The actor returned to the sets of the film in a day saying that it was because he "knew that's what my mother would have loved – for me to carry on with my commitments, act and finish my duties.

Rajkummar Rao was last seen opposite Kangana Ranaut in Ekta Kapoor production Judgementall Hai Kya. He has been signed on for Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy RoohiAfza, which also stars Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Sharma. Rajkummar will also star opposite Priyanka Chopra in Netflix film The White Tiger, an adaptation of Aravind Adiga's 2008 novel of the same name.
