According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Vivek Oberoi starrer PM Narendra Modi’s total business in the first weekend of its released amounted to Rs. 11.76 crore. The film performed well on Sunday. However, going forward, weekdays are crucial for a satisfactory performance.

#PMNarendraModi showed positive trending across the weekend... Biz on Day 3 gave the much-required push... Weekdays crucial, since it needs to maintain the momentum for a satisfactory total... Fri 2.88 cr, Sat 3.76 cr, Sun 5.12 cr. Total: ₹ 11.76 cr. India biz.” wrote Taran Adarsh on Twitter.

Earlier Vivek Oberoi starrer PM Narendra Modi had earned Rs 6.64 crore at the box office since releasing on 24 May. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh observed that the film picked up pace on its second day, performing better in mass circuits than metros.

The BJP’s landslide victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha didn’t seem to have had a positive impact on the box office collection of the biopic on the prime minister, which amounted to Rs 2.88 crore on opening day. The critics have slammed the film, calling it a farcical hagiography.

PM Narendra Modi traces Modi’s journey from childhood to becoming the prime minister of India. It has been directed by Omung Kumar and produced by Sandip Ssingh and Suresh Oberoi. It also stars Boman Irani, Darshan Kumaar, Barkha Sengupta and Zarina Wahab.

PM Narendra Modi was originally slated to release on 11 April, a day after the first phase of India’s 2019 Lok Sabha elections were to commence. The Election Commission of India (EC) put a ban on the release of the biopic during poll season on 10 April saying in its order that “any such film that subserves purpose of any political entity or individual should not be displayed in the electronic media.” The makers of PM Narendra Modi subsequently decided to push the release date of the biopic to 24 May.

Unfortunately for Arjun Kapoor too, his film India’s Most Wanted, which released on the same day, did not do well at the box office either. The film opened at just Rs 2.10 crore.

Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#IndiasMostWanted struggles... Records extremely low numbers on Day 1, although biz picked up towards evening... Needs miraculous growth on Day 2 and 3 to salvage the show... Fri Rs 2.10 cr. India biz.”
