Kartik Aaryan Kicks off ‘Dostana 2’, Shares Glimpse of Script
The film also stars Janhvi Kapoor and newcomer Lakshya Lalwani.
Karan Johar’s Dostana 2 is all ready to roll. Ahead of the shooting of the film, lead Kartik Aaryan shared a photo of himself posing with the script with a caption that read, “Dostana 2 ka prep shuru (Prep for Dostana 2 is under way).”
Dostana 2 is a sequel to 2008’s Dostana, which starred John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra. The Tarun Mansukhani directorial was about two men who pretend to be a gay couple in order to rent an apartment. Trouble ensues when they both fall for the same girl.
After much speculation, Karan Johar confirmed the sequel and that Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor would be starring in it in July. The film will be directed by Collin D’Cunha.
In August, Karan Johar confirmed the third member of the Dostana 2 trio – newcomer Lakshya Lalwani, who played the title role in Porus, a historical drama on Sony TV. He has also been seen in MTV India’s Warrior High and Kahaani Hamari. “Both happy and excited to introduce the new kid on the Dharma block! Lakshya will be making his debut with us in 'Dostana 2' and from thereon, we hope to start a solid cinematic journey together! Please welcome Lakshya and shower him with all your love and blessings,” Karan tweeted.
Besides Dostana 2, Kartik Aaryan has a few other projects in the pipeline, including Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal 2 opposite Sara Ali Khan, Juno Chopra’s remake of Pati, Patni Aur Woh with Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. There are also rumours that Kartik might be in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next with Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone.
