Starring John Abraham and directed by Nikkil Advani, Batla House is based on the true incidents of the Batla House encounter of alleged Indian Mujahideen terrorists which took place in 2008. The film hit theatres on 15 August and it clashed with Akshay Kumar’s Mission Mangal. While the latter has gone down very well with the audience, Batla House too has fared decently at the box office, earning Rs 47.99 crores. The extended weekend worked to the advantage of both the films.

Apart from John Abraham, the film also stars Mrunal Thakur and Nora Fatehi. Critics, however, found the film quite average. “John Abraham is convincing and we are ready to play along but Director Nikhil Advani and writer Ritesh Shah aren’t too sure about how they want to approach the subject”, writes The Quint’s Stutee Ghosh.
