Ayushmann Khurrana is on a roll. His latest film Bala has raked in a totla of Rs 82.73 crores in just over a week. In its first week it earned Rs 72.24 crores, followed by Rs 3.76 cr on the second friday and Rs 6.73 on the second Saturday.

In the first two days of its release, the Ayushmann-starrer had earned Rs 25.88 crore at the box office. After Dream Girl, the audience seems to have loved this family entertainer too.

The actor took to Twitter to share the news:

Bala raked in Rs 10.15 crore at the box office on its first day. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, “strong word of mouth” and Ayushmann’s growing brand has contributed to the film’s earnings, and business is expected to increase over the weekend.

Bala has also beaten Ayushmann’s last film Dream Girl to become his highest earner on day 1. The Raaj Shaandilyaa directorial, which hit theatres on 13 September, collected Rs 10.05 crore at the box office on its opening day.

Trade analysts have predicted that with positive reviews, Bala could earn around Rs 30 crore on its first weekend. Girish Johar has suggested that it could be Ayushmann’s seventh consecutive hit.

Directed by Amar Kaushik, Bala stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar with Saurabh Shukla, Seema Pahwa, Abhishek Banerjee and Javed Jaffrey in supporting roles. Set in Kanpur, the film follows the tale of a young man, who resorts to desperate – and sometimes repulsive – measures to find a solution to premature balding. He falls in love with a TikTok star, played by Yami Gautam. The film has been well-received by critics, who have praised Ayushmann and Bhumi’s performances. The Quint’s Stutee Ghosh writes, “Ayushman Khurrana is excellent as the complex young man battling anxiety. Bala is a breathing throbbing character thanks to him,” adding that “Bhumi brings in so much restraint and depth.”
