Anushka Sharma, in an interview with NDTV, gave a veiled response to the Gurmehar Kaur row. The actor stressed on the freedom of expression for all.

I feel everyone should have a right to their own opinion and everybody who is opposing it should say what they want to say and it should not be a problem. That’s how I lead my life. In my world too, people have a difference in opinion, hear it and move on.

20-year-old, Gurmehar Kaur was forced to withdraw from the anti-ABVP campaign, launched after the violence perpetrated by ABVP outside Ramjas college, because of online harassment and rape threats by the so-called “nationalists”.

The controversy was further exacerbated when cricketer, Virendra Sehwag criticised the daughter of a slain martyr’s stance, “Pakistan did not kill my father, war did” with his analogy “I did not score a triple century, my bat did”.
