‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ Cast: Who Can You Recognize?

The makers of The Accidental Prime Minister have shared a new photo featuring the entire cast of the film. The Anupam Kher-starrer has been building buzz for its depiction of real life Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other political figures in the 2004-14 UPA cabinet.
Singh, his wife Gursharan Kaur, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, former President APJ Abdul Kalam and former union minister Shivraj Patil are some of the ‘reel’ figures spotted in the picture. Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh shared the still on Twitter.
Adarsh also revealed that the film is set to release on 21 December, which pits it against the other big Christmas release Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero directed by Aanand L Rai.
The Accidental Prime Minister is based on the book of the same name by Sanjaya Baru which is a behind-the-scenes look at the UPA administration, particularly the power dynamic between Singh and Sonia Gandhi. Here’s another look at the cast.
The film is directed by Vijay Gutte with Hansal Mehta as the creative producer. It features Anupam Kher as Dr Singh, German actor Suzanne Bernert as former Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Ahana Kumra as Priyanka Gandhi and Arjun Mathur as Rahul Gandhi. Akshaye Khanna essays the role of Sanjaya Baru.
