A film is being made on Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay's life. To know more about it, The Quint spoke to Anita Raj who is playing the role of Deendayal Upadhyay’s sister. Anita says that she liked the story when the film’s writer Dheeraj went to her to discuss the script. She also said that she was inspired by the personality of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay after reading the story.

Although the role was small, but it was an important one. I really liked the story when I read the script. I was intrigued to know about who the protagonist of this biopic was.

There is no harm in venturing into politics

On asking if she wishes to be in politics, Anita then replied, ‘ There is nothing wrong to be in politics but as of now, I don't think I am going to go for it. I believe people should do what they are supposed to do. I find it to be difficult for an actor to turn into a politician. I can't speak for others, but as of now, I would definitely not want to be in politics.’

Who will she campaign for in 2019’s election?

Anita feels one must canvass for whatever political party one agrees with. She said:

You can choose to campaign for any party that resonates with you. Don’t campaign only because you have been invited by a political party. You can campaign for any party you feel is going to work for the country.

What are the future projects?

Currently Anita is working with Prateik Babbar and Siddharth Kapoor for a film called Yaram. She believes that everyone wants to work on the big screen, and that actors should not discriminate between films and television.
