Amitabh Bachchan to Receive Dadasaheb Phalke Award

Actor Amitabh Bachchan has been “unanimously selected” for the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his immense contribution to cinema.

Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar, announced the same on Twitter. “The legend Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for 2 generations has been selected unanimously for #DadaSahabPhalke award. The entire country and international community is happy. My heartiest Congratulations to him,” he wrote.

Amitabh is already a four-time National Award winner, where he received the Best Actor award for Agneepath, Black, Paa and Piku. Amitabh's first award came in the form of Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for Anand in 1971.

The legendary actor completes 50 years in the film industry this year. He made his debut with Saat Hindustani in 1969 and has gone on to star in over 200 films in five decades.

The 76-year-old actor was last seen in Sujoy Ghosh’s suspense thriller Badla. The actor will next be seen in films like Jhund, Brahmastra and Gulabo Sitabo, among others.
