Aamir Khan’s PK made history when it released in China in 2015 and made over Rs 100 crore - the first for any Bollywood film in an overseas territory. Now, Aamir’s Dangal has broken PK’s box-office high by raking in Rs 148 crore in 6 days.

According to reports, Dangal has now raced past Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 at the Chinese box-office.

Dangal opened in 7,000 screens across China on Friday after it was hugely promoted in the country by Aamir Khan. The Beijing Film Festival opened this year with a screening of Dangal, the Chinese title of which is Shuai Jiao Baba, that translates into “Let’s Wrestle, Father”.

Reacting to this overwhelming response, Aamir Khan had an electronic conversation with IANS where he said;

Me and the entire team of Dangal are very touched with the love and affection that our film Dangal is getting in China. I have been visiting Chinese social media websites and reading translations of the reactions. It is truly moving to see such a strong emotional bond that the Chinese have with our film. On behalf of our entire team, I would like to thank our Chinese audience and want them to know that we are all so happy. And I would like to thank our distributors in China for giving our film such a nice release.
