‘Mardaani’ Actor Tahir Bhasin to Play Sunil Gavaskar in ‘83’
The Ranveer Singh starrer is based on India’s historic win at the 1983 Cricket World Cup.
The latest edition to the cast of sports drama 83 is Tahir Bhasin. The actor, who was seen in 2014’s Mardaani, will play ace batsman Sunil Gavaskar in the Kabir Khan directorial on India’s historic win at the 1983 Cricket World Cup.
"The casting of Sunil Gavaskar was important since he was one of the superstars of the team. I needed an actor with a certain gravitas to portray the Little Master. Tahir had the persona for that," said Khan who confirmed the news in an interview with mid-day.
83 stars Ranveer Singh as former Indian skipper Kapil Dev, Pankaj Tripathi, Ammy Virk, Sahil Khatter and Chirag Patil. It releases on 10 April 2020.
