There were several reports doing the rounds on social media that Rs 121 crore of the earnings of Baahubali 2, the highest grossing film ever in Indian cinema, was being donated to the families of 25 CRPF personnel killed by Naxals in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district on 24 April.

As it turns out, the news is, infact, fake. And the photo of Prabhas standing next to Prime Minister Narendra Modi is from 2015 after the release of the first part, Baahubali: The Beginning.

Check out some of the different versions of the story that were circulated on social media platforms; Facebook, Twitter and Whatsapp:

At least 25 CRPF personnel were killed and several others wounded in an ambush by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district on 24 April. The CRPF personnel were sanitising a road which is being built in the area when almost 300 Naxals attacked them.

While we may reserve a special place in hell for those spreading fake news, it’s paramount for everyone to check the source of such “stories” before sharing them on Facebook or passing them around in our WhatsApp groups.
