After the underwhelming performance of Lingaa at the box office, superstar Rajinikanth has chosen to work with a relatively new director – Pa Ranjith.

Laying all speculation on the title of the film to rest, Pa Ranjith finally confirmed on Twitter that the new film will be titled Kabali (another name for Lord Shiva).

Kabali will reportedly feature Rajinikanth as a Chennai-based don. Bollywood actress, Radhika Apte has been roped in to play the female lead in the film. Actress Dhanika, who earlier appeared in the Tamil films like Aravaan and Paradesi will be playing the superstar’s on-screen daughter.

Actors Kalaiarasan and Prakash Raj will also appear in important roles in the film, which is being produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu. Santhosh Narayanan of Jigarthanda fame will score the music for the movie.

Pa Ranjith debuted as a director with the 2012 flick Attakathi, starring Dinesh. He followed it up with the acclaimed Madras, starring Karthi in 2014. Kabali will go on floors in mid-September.
