How ‘Udta Punjab’ Can Pass the Censors and Keep the Drugs Too
Here’s a clever way to dodge the Censor Board and keep the drugs too.
The Censor Board of India doesn’t seem to like puns, and Punjab in titles. After heavily thrashing out innuendos from last week’s Housefull 3, Pahlaj Nihalani’s team wants Udta Punjab to drop Punjab from their name. Why? Because the movie highlights the rampant drug abuse in the north Indian state and assembly elections are just a few months away.
Just in case the makers want to clear the ‘stately’ controversy, and keep the drug element too, here are a few suggestions to rename Udta Punjab to.
Jab We Meth
This movie has Shahid Kapoor, and Kareena Kapoor, and talks about going high on life. ‘Jab We Meth’ is what this movie is all about.
Main Heroin Hun
In 2012 Kareena Kapoor portrayed an actress in the forgetful movie Heroine. This time, she can very well redeem herself because the controversies ensure this one’s going to be remembered for a long time.
High-Way
Alia Bhatt’s high-flying ways were very well appreciated in the Imtiaz Ali movie of the same name, is it time to re-invent the charm?
Acid-kariya
Diljit Dosanjh’s Ambarsariya was a 2012 Punjabi blockbuster, and Udta Punjab is slated to be Dosanjh’s big Bollywood debut. To keep the luck on his side, a tried and tested name may help.
The movie can also tag on the ‘hash’, and give a passing tribute to late ghazal singer Jagjit Singh. After all, who didn’t get high on his songs?
