I always wondered how someone could let their guard down when they know they are being watched by 80 cameras 24/7. All you need to do is live in a beautiful house, do the tasks given and chill, kaun si badi baat hai? But, my whole perspective changed in just five hours when I got a chance to enter the Bigg Boss house as a contestant before the real show begins. But before I can tell you what actually happened in there, let me take you through the house that’s been redesigned for the show’s ‘double trouble’ theme.

Bigg Boss 9 house

You might love the house at first sight but let me warn you, after sometime the colours start giving you a headache.

Welcome to the Bigg Boss house

By now we all know the theme of the show is ‘double trouble’, so here are a few things in the house that have been specially made according to the theme. The contestants will be entering the house in jodis and whatever they do will also be in jodis.

Pool area in the Bigg Boss house

There are no single beds any more. It’s all double. No wonder the show timings have been changed to 10.30pm

Even the dining table chairs are made keeping the theme in mind. Don’t miss the twin chairs.

The garden area also has one mini swimming pool with seven chairs for each jodi.

There is a new corner in the garden area, the sky lounge where couples can sit.

And if you are wondering what the mannequin is doing there, well let me inform you he will be playing a major role in the house too.

This time round the living room sofa is also divided into two.

The next area is literally cherry on the red velvet cake. What you see below is not a lounge but the washroom.

The house is like a candy shop with splashes of colour everywhere.

And now coming back to my experience of staying inside the Bigg Boss house as a contestant with a few other digital media reporters:

In a narrow lane in middle of a busy market place, in Lonavla is a huge gate which leads to the Bigg Boss house. No, I didn’t walk into the house just like that, I had to leave almost all my belongings after a thorough check, which naturally meant no cell phones, chargers, paper, pen etc. Then the team blindfolded us and led us to the entrance of the house in jodis. Exactly the way it will happen with the real contestants on Sunday.

Here’s what you usually do when you are a new entrant in the Bigg Boss house:

• You just keep exploring the new house, it takes time to sink in.

• You realise that other than your housemates there are innumerable insects surrounding you (giant grasshoppers, and I am not exaggerating).

• You keep wondering when will Bigg Boss start talking.

• Every time you hear Big Boss’ voice, you get startled because that voice comes from nowhere.

• The mike around you can have a mind of its own and might sometimes decide to flip so you need to constantly keep a check.

• If you are not careful you might end up carrying the mike inside the loo. (I don’t think I need to explain what could happen later).

• Withdrawal symptoms, every now and then you will feel something is missing and you will keep checking your pockets for your cell phone.

Things that happen once you start getting used to the Bigg Boss house:

• You tend to forget you are being watched by the nation. That’s how you end up doing things you are not supposed to do on national television.

• You forget you have a mike attached, so even if you whisper, people can hear you.

• The house and the people in there, become your world.

• You will never get used to the elimination round, however unhappy you are in the house you would never want to get eliminated.
