When Aishwarya Rai Bachchan walked the Cannes red carpet wearing purple lip colour, the internet went into a total tizzy. Ash, who is hardly known to experiment with her fashion choices, made some bold ones this season at the 69th Cannes Film Festival. Even though Twitterati poked fun at her ‘Smurf’ look, and the actress became an instant meme favourite, Aishwarya responded by being absolutely calmn about the whole fuss. The Sarbjit actress said that she had fun with it, and the fact that her art evoked varied responses, is what being an artist is all about. Fashion choices being trashed or lauded doesn’t bother Ash in the least. The Cannes veteran says that it is not the fulcrum of her existence, though she has enjoyed it.

I have got there with some highly qualified professionals in tow to work with with me. Scarlet does my make-up and Stevans does my hair over the years and they are doing their jobs brilliantly. Scarlet had always done magical creativity with me over the years now and even this year she wanted to do something different and I was like go ahead. We have enjoyed a lot and so did the media, over the years you may have seen the creativity and primarily, it’s all about the fashion and I let my professionals do their job.
