Despite all the controversies and calls for a boycott on Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, the film has emerged to be Karan Johar’s biggest day one film at the box-office. According to reports, the Friday earnings of the Ranbir Kapoor – Anushka Sharma starrer are at Rs 13.30 crore, which is higher than Johar’s previous releases including his last two - Student of the Year and My Name Is Khan.

The film is also getting a favourable response overseas, especially in the Middle East. The Friday collections of ADHM are apparently second only to Sultan this year.

With positive reviews and word of mouth, the film is expected to grow over the festive weekend.

Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay too received an enouraging response at ticket windows. Reports suggest that the action thriller collected around Rs 10.24 crore at the box-office on day one.
