Released in 1983, Woh 7 Din was Anil Kapoor’s breakout movie. A remake of the 1981 Tamil film Andha 7 Naatkal directed by K Bhagyaraj, Woh 7 Din, also starring Padmini Kolhapure and Naseeruddin Shah was a sleeper hit and announced the arrival of Anil Kapoor as a actor to reckon with.
On the eve of the 32nd anniversary of the release of Woh 7 Din, Anil Kapoor got a tad emotional and remembered his first big hit with this post on Facebook:
On the 32nd Anniversary of Woh 7 Din, a film that remains close to my heart, come take a trip down memory lane with me and let me tell you why its so special.
1. I consider it to be one of my finest and most honest performances till date. It was a career-defining film that catalysed my journey in the industry.
2. The honour and pleasure of working with the inimitable Padmini Kohlapure. I still believe she was the lucky charm behind the success of the film.
3. The movie is unique in that it has no villains and no meltdowns! It just tugs away gently at your heart strings like a beautifully unfolding drama.
4. The simplicity of the story is what makes it so enjoyable and heartwarming.
5. The quirky characters whose nuanced flaws make them relatable and relevant even today.
6. Before there was Mr India, there was Prem Pratap!
7. Just like Prem Pratap is a passionate dreamer and proud Punjabi, so am I!! I identify with this character more ways than one!
If you haven’t already seen the movie, go watch it now!! I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed being a part of it.
